Friends of Coal Miners

Friends of Coal Miners ◦ Charleston, West Virginia, Lawyers

At the law offices of Bucci, Bailey & Javins, L.C. in Charleston, West Virginia, our legal advocacy work with coal miners has motivated us to do something to reach out to coal miners in a supportive, proactive manner. We have come to the conclusion that there are so many friends of coal, yet so few friends of coal miners.

Coal Mining Issues

In an attempt to address the imbalance of demand for coal and neglect of coal miners, our law firm has formed a nonprofit organization entitled Friends of Coal Miners. Coal mining is by nature a controversial industry for the following reasons (and more):

  • Some critics worry about destruction to the environment as mountains are permanently disfigured through coal mining.
  • Economists and politicians, on the other hand, are concerned about jobs. Plentiful coal mining jobs are fundamental to the health of West Virginia's economy.
  • Coal is a valuable commodity.
  • Coal mining is a hazardous occupation.
  • Coal miners deserve the support of government, the coal mining industry and society that demands plentiful coal.

Connections and Resources for Coal Miners and Their Families

Through our organization, Friends of Coal Miners, we strive to make help and information available to coal miners and families of coal miners. As appropriate to address particular issues and needs, we refer coal miners to appropriate resources, such as the following:
